I hate buying party trays from the store! At www.wholefoods.com, I can get a nice fresh HUGE tray of fruit for about $25. But I still have to come home and jazz up the presentation a little bit anyway. The other day, I was at a birthday party with the kids and had a about 30 minutes in between before we headed to my neighbors for backyard movie night. So before the birthday party, I ran by the store to get the stuff to make the tray. I decided to build my tray around what things I liked that were on sale. Here is what I bought and how much I spent:
HEB brand wheat crackers $2.88
HEB Rotisserie Chicken Salad $6.29
Some random soft cheese wedge with pecans in it $3.29
Two cartons of strawberries 2/$3
One small carton of blackberries $1.88
One small carton of raspberries $1.88
Green Leaf Lettuce $1.28
Rosemary Foccacia Bread (Look on the bakery closeout rack for discounted bread varieties) $1.99
Almonds and Pecans (I always keep a large bag of each for healthy snacking)
One large cucumber $.71
